Fantastic stay
Had a wonderful stay, a beautiful place to stay at. In the lounge we were always well taken care of by Issam. On the very first day he came to our table full of enthusiasm, and he helped us wonderfully every day after that. Whenever he saw us, he would always come over to ask how we were doing and whether he could do anything for us. This definitely had a positive impact on our experience.
Anniversary celebration stay
We stayed here for 3 nights to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary. Our room was a “superior room” and was very nice itself, we were however disappointed with the view, it was on a corner, one way looked on to an adjacent wall of the hotel and the other way over a flat roof, this was despite informing the hotel at booking that it was a special celebration. We ate in the restaurant one night, I had steak, which was cooked as directed and nicely presented, however the cut of the meat was not worthy of the expensive price tag. We also booked our table for 7.15pm and it took 75 minutes for our meal to arrive, our ordered drinks needed 2 reminders as well. Internally the hotel is superb, the staff were also amazing and very cheerful, especially at breakfast. Two of the days there were weddings, and there was some noise disturbance and I am sure some of the delay in the restaurant was due to staff being diverted to the wedding, to the detriment of “normal” guests. That being said, I would definitely return to this hotel.
Enjoyable stay But >>>>
I have spent many happy stays at Oulton Hall over many years, its a Special place to me. My only frustration were that bathrobes are not provided in what are described as Classic rooms, only in the higher category rooms. I expressed my disappointment only to be told in what I felt were a somewhat patronising manner by the Resort Manager that I should either pay to use one if available or bring my . My purpose for the robe were to transit between the room and leisure centre and back again rather than have to change/unchange/ change. I were staying 3 nights so the robe would have been very useful. A member of the leisure centre told me many guests had referenced being unhappy to him not having use of a robe indeed one guest referenced this to me while in the jacuzzi. Oulton hall is a High Quality hotel. I were told by the leisure centre staff robes were provided for spa day guests where the money was made by the hotel, does my business not count ? We ate and drank in the hotel too. Of course Not all guests would necessarily need a robe for an overnight stay or if they don't use the leisure facilities but for those who do, I feel a hotel of the quality of Oulton hall should make them available to All guests who would find them a benefit. In Conclusion, I wouldn't have written this review had I not received an email by the Resort Manager requesting a review on TripAdvisor. It did cause a degree of frustration but did not distract from the overall satisfaction and fabulous service of the hotel staff who cannot be held accountable for company policy.
Relaxing Anniversary Weekend
Beautiful building nestled near Leeds. We booked for the purpose of a relaxed spa break for our anniversary and a little baby moon. The price was fantastic for what we got! The rooms were clean and well presented. The pool and spa were perfect for what we needed although small. There were free classes on at the gym and water aerobics too! The treatments were amazing. We didn't get the names of our technicians but they were fantastic at their jobs. Anyone wanting a pregnancy massage, I recommend. It was super relaxing. The food was delicious in the restaurant. Megan and Reece in particular were fantastic staff who looked after us both nights. And as we had the £35 each towards the menu, it felt like we were having free meals! Beautiful building and decorations. Lots of places to sit and have a drink or read a book. Would definitely recommend
Good hotel for a golf break/spa/dinner
Good hotel… great for a golf break. Paid for an upgrade to a suite which was worth the money. Good bar. Restaurant buzzing on a Tuesday evening is always nice. Our waitress, Isla, was lovely and made us feel very welcome.
Generally very good
Hotel was great and the golf course was too. Staff friendly and helpful. The only exception was the unhelpful and unfriendly ‘greeting’ in the golf club. Basic information was hard to come by (which holes, how to get to the start etc) and were told we couldn’t hire a buggy despite there being several when we left and many, many more when we got back. It felt like it was all too much hassle.
Event Organisation
recently took part in organising a large Summer Ball at Oulton Hall, every single member of staff and department was amazing, but the even coordinator. The event coordinator was MORE than amazing, is was worth her weight in gold, she was present at every single pre-meeting, the night before, the day, and even on the night of the event in her own time, she was on the end of the phone call or email practically 24/7 NOTHING was to much trouble, she made suggestions and came up with ideas for our themed ball that we would not have thought about. the company need to find out who she is and clone her for every hotel .
Great stay
Wonderful building with great staff , we stayed for 2 nights with our dog Murphy, staff made us so welcome and where very attentive to our pup. Had misplaced my phone in the claret jug and the lovely Claudia kept it safe for me till I reclaimed it . Carlos made us so welcome and is a credit to your group Would definitely stay again, great setting
Excellent throughout
Our 2nd visit to Oulton Hall previously 9 years ago. Still excellent service, food and staff..wonderfully maintained grounds and accessible swimming pool for those with mobility challenges. Only small downside, it is a large building and if you get a room at the 'far end...it is a long walk and again those with mobility challenges will need a wheelchair of some description.
Wowcher getaway
After a very stressful journey as our car broke down and we missed most of the day this beautiful location did not disappoint. The staff were polite and attentive and the room was spotlessly clean. We purchased the Wowcher deal and it was worth every penny just wish I'd bought the spa treatment as well. The gym was very compact and felt bit restrictive doing my workout and we didn't get to use the pool or steam room because of our delay getting to venue . The £35pp meal voucher was more than enough and the 8 drinks vouchers were greatly appreciated after our stressful journey. Unfortunately the weather was awful so we couldn't walk around the grounds but inside this building was beautiful. I would highly recommend this deal to anyone and would love to go back on another date to experience the full days. Also the 1pm late checkout was amazing.
Drinks and food at the Claret Jig
Had a great time at the Claret Jug.. Claudia really made us feel welcome, she was very polite and really nice nature and was happy to help us out..
Lovely service from Chris
Lovely meal in the claret jug for my nieces 21st birthday, Chris was awesome start to finish!
Wonderful stay in gorgeous surroundings
Our recent overnight stay at Oulton Hall was wonderful. Set in fabulous grounds, perfect for a walk with or without a dog, and with great spa and leisure facilities, this is a perfect choice for a short stay. The bedroom/ bathroom (we stayed in just a standard double) was a little tired and would benefit from some refurbishment, however, quiet, very comfy bed and had all the amenities you would need. The staff were very welcoming and efficient. We had a ver nice dinner, the occasion made extra special due to the lovely front of house staff, in our case Lillian and Izzy P, who were both friendly and attentive. Breakfast was really good - great choice, good ingredients and , in the case of the hot food counter, well cooked. All in all a great experience at a reasonable price.
A beautiful building and fabulous Spa
Great location and beautiful grounds. As a lone female on an overnight spa break, I felt at ease throughout my stay. I felt safe and comfortable walking around on my own. The staff are warm, friendly and professional. The spa is clean and as you would expect from a 4 star hotel. I had dinner in the restaurant, the food was excellent with lots of options for gluten free meals. My room was spotlessly clean, spacious and comfortable with all the amenities you would expect. My Spa treatment from Melanie was amazing, she was warm friendly and kind The only thing I would comment on is the poor gluten free choices on the breakfast menu. You get 2 flavours of granola to choose from. On the hot food stand the sausages aren't gf and there is no option to order any. So other than a piece of bacon you're essentially getting a vegetarian breakfast with no toast to hand. The bread and croissants state they take 20 minutes to prepare which seems a long time, as I had a treatment booked I didn't have time to order any. I freeze my bread at home and it takes a quick blast in microwave or toaster to defrost and cook. Other than that, I enjoyed my stay and left feeling rested and reset.
The Oulton
Rooms a high standard, nice friendly staff in a very nice country Hotel. I stay in many hotels and always try to get into the Oulton if I am anywhere near the area
Excellent stay.
Had a lovely time. Room warm and spotlessly clean. Bed comfortable. Plenty of hot water for showers. Food excellent. Particularly enjoyed afternoon tea. Will return in the future.
Excellent Hotel- but Spa lets the experience down.
We stayed at Oulton Hall for our wedding anniversary and also used the weekend as a little business planning retreat, and I honestly cannot fault the hotel itself. The service was five-star from start to finish. Check-in was lovely, our room was excellent, and we had afternoon tea in the Drawing Room which was absolutely fantastic. We also really enjoyed the Champagne Bar in the evening. The hotel has such a beautiful atmosphere and the staff and service throughout really made our anniversary feel special. Unfortunately, the spa was where the experience fell short for us, particularly because there is such a noticeable difference between the standard of the hotel and the standard of the spa facilities. The pool was very overcrowded and there aren't really any loungers or comfortable beds around the pool where you can properly relax — mainly just small chairs. The bar and seating area are also quite small, and overall it didn't have the relaxing spa feel we had expected. There is a lovely little veranda outside, but getting to it involved walking through the dining area, gym and yoga studio. Once we eventually found it and sat down, our view was unfortunately of the back of the bar with around 50 barrels stacked up, which rather took away from the peaceful spa experience! 😂 The spa facilities themselves also felt quite minimal, with a steam room, sauna and cold plunge, but not much beyond that. We booked treatments too, which unfortunately weren't particularly memorable. Ironically, my favourite part of the spa experience was afterwards, sitting in the quiet room on the lovely padded relaxation beds. It was exactly the kind of comfortable, relaxing environment we had hoped to find throughout the rest of the spa, and it's a shame there aren't more spaces like this available. Overall, we absolutely loved Oulton Hall and would happily stay again. The hotel, rooms, food, atmosphere and service were fantastic and worthy of five stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ For us, though, the spa simply doesn't match the standard of the rest of the hotel. We'd definitely return for another stay, we'd probably just give the spa a miss next time.
A fabulous stay!
We stayed at this beautiful hotel for one night and our stay was superb! We were lucky enough to be upgraded to the beautiful Richmond Suite which was extremely comfortable and spacious. The bath was huge, toiletries provided throughout the hotel were lovely, robes and slippers were included. Dinner in the Calverley Grill was delicious and service was professional, welcoming and unobtrusive. Oliver was very friendly. Food was delicious, particularly the Stilton Pannacotta. The hotel is beautifully decorated throughout and everywhere was spotless. Breakfast was lovely: a large range of hot and cold items with lovely granola and lots of different bread. Again, service was impeccable. The breakfast staff were efficient and cleared tables quickly. My husband is vegetarian and said the veggie sausages were delicious. All staff were efficient, courteous and happy to help. We had a lovely stay and would return in a heartbeat. Thank you to all who looked after us so well.
Guest experience
We stayed in Oulton Hall Spa and Golf Resort for 5 days in August 2026. A beautiful property Oulton Hall give you a royal feeling. Rooms were good, spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was elaborate, the chef was ready to cook extra for vegetarians. We attended a wedding there. Overall a good experience.
Excellent spa break
Lovely hotel in a nice location & lovely surroundings. We did a spa break & had a lovely massage. I would highly recommend Binta. She was lovely & friendly & it was the nicest massage I’ve ever had. The spa facilities were nice & clean & the relaxation room was really nice . Room was lovely & dinner & breakfast were fabulous. Oliver really looked after us at dinner & he added a nice touch to my friend’s dessert as it was a birthday celebration. He also looked after us well at breakfast . Would highly recommend this hotel. All staff very friendly & helpful. Nothing too much trouble
