Things to do near Oulton Hall Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort this Christmas

Head to Yorkshire and celebrate Christmas in its full shimmering glory this year.

From the glittering Christmas displays to the heartwarming nights with loved ones, we all have different reasons why we love the festive season.

This year, you can make your Christmas extra shimmery with a stay at the Oulton Hall Hotel. Unwind in our spa, explore 320 acres of beautiful grounds and enjoy festive fun near our hotel.

To help make the planning a bit easier, here’s a handful on festive things to do in the local area.

Leeds Christmas Market

20 minute drive

Browse hundreds of stalls, pick up some unique gifts and take in the busy, festive atmosphere during a visit to Leeds Christmas market, Yorkshire’s largest market.

Don’t worry about the little ones either, there’s a daily programme of festive entertainment in the open air market square for them. And don’t forget to pop by the Kuh Stall where you can enjoy a German sausage in front of a real log fire.

Stockeld Park Light Show

30 minute drive

Watch the Enchanted Forest come to life with an impressive winter illuminations light show at Stockeld Park.

As one of England’s oldest, largest and most spectacular Christmas light events, the winter illuminations turn the forest into a winter wonderland filled with twinkling lights, fairy-tale creatures and a magical, musical light show on the lake.

Ice Cube

20 minute drive

Enter the Ice Cube, a magnificent outdoor covered ice rink spanning 400sqm on Millennium Square, Victoria Gardens and Cookridge Street.

Show off your skills, have a laugh with friends or get the little ones out on the ice for the first time (children under the age of 9 can join the Penguin Club). Once you’ve skated, why not stop by the nearby market stalls for some warming festive food and drink?

Rock ‘n’ roll panto

23 minute drive

Sit down, get comfy and enjoy a different kind of panto this Christmas at Leeds Heritage Theatre.

The Jack and the Beanstalk rock ‘n’ roll panto contains the traditional panto elements like audience participation but also includes classic rock anthems and chart-toppers, all performed live on stage by an ultra-talented cast of actor-musicians.

Please note – the theatre doesn’t recommend the pantomime for under 4s, but if you do want to bring younger children, you should bring ear defenders.
